Exploring Aeronautics CD-ROM Read Me for Macintosh
System requirements:
Computer: Macintosh w/ minimum 8MB memory with 5MB of available RAM.
Operating system: System 7.1 or greater
Colors: minimum 256 color monitor
CD-ROM: Double speed(2X) or faster
This CD-ROM requires Apple's QuickTime software. Most computers will already have QuickTime installed. If you do not have QuickTime version 2.5 or later installed on your system, you will need to install it. It has been provided on the CD-ROM
To install it:
1. Open the folder "QuickTime 2.5 Install"
2. Open the folder "QuickTime Install Disk1"
3. Double-click the file "Installer"
4. Next, just follow the directions on the screen.
More information about QuickTime including the latest version can be found on the internet at the Quicktime website, http://quicktime.apple.com.
CURRICULUM MATERIALS
This CD-ROM has been designed to be used in conjunction with supporting curriculum materials. These curriculum materials are provided in electronic format on the CD-ROM. They are located inside the folder "PRINTMAT". The files are called:
Science Of Flight
Integrating with Aeronautics
Multimedia and Student Logbook
Literature Unit
Aircraft Types
Regimes of Flight
These files are in Portable Document Format (PDF). To view and/or print these files, you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader installed. Acrobat Reader 3.01 has been provided on the CD-ROM.
To install it:
1. Open the folder "Acrobat"
2. Open the folder "Reader"
3. Double-click the file "Reader 3.01 Installer"
4. Next, just follow the directions on the screen.
(Double-clicking on the file in the "Search" folder is not necessary.)
PERFORMANCE TIP
The "Exploring Aeronautics" CD-ROM is designed to run entirely from the CD-ROM without requiring the application to be installed on your hard drive. However, you can achieve better performance from the CD-ROM by installing some files to your hard drive. To perform this installation:
1. Create a new folder on your hard drive
2. If your Macintosh is a 68K Macintosh, copy the file "Aero 68K" to the new folder.
If your Macintosh is a PowerPC Mac, copy the file "Aero PPC" to the new folder.
3. Copy the folder "Xtras" to the new folder.
4. Double click the "Aero (68K or PPC)" icon to start the application.
AUTO START
For ease of use, this CD-ROM was designed to start automatically after the CD-ROM is inserted into the CD-ROM drive of the computer. To abort the launch of the program, hold down the SHIFT key on the keyboard after inserting the CD-ROM.
